You cannot show yourself Officiating for dozens of couples if you have only performed a few Weddings. Professionals will have a variety of clear close-up photos because they take pride in what they do and want to display their accomplishments to engaged couples.

Another reason to look for clear photos of your prospective

Officiant is to see what they look like.

Ask how long they have been Officiating Weddings,

how many Weddings they have performed,

and if your Wedding is their sole concern.

Carefully check their "Links" page, as this addresses

professional standing and credibility.

You can easily differentiate the inexperienced

from the seasoned professional, as the pro will have dozens of links,

and the beginners will have less than a handful.

Carefully look at what they say on their websites.

For example:

"Christian" is defined as:

"a member of any of certain Protestant churches." 

"Nondenominational" is defined as:

"Not restricted to or associated with a religious denomination."

As these distinct terms are clearly not compatible, be wary of anyone who claims to be both, as they are trying to confuse you, or do not understand the difference themselves.

Finally, find out if the Officiants you are considering openly discriminate against people because of lack of faith, differing faiths, divorce, alternative lifestyles, or sexual orientations, before you commit to having them perform your ceremony.
